While digital maps can be great for navigating, maps often need to show a larger area for context. In building your custom map we bridge the gap between data and design. Our custom maps include only the details you want on your map and give you the big picture. By communicating in clear and simple terms we make the process easy.
Maps for Municipalities
Custom maps help highlight the hard work that municipalities put into development and planning, and they encourage community members to get out, get active, and become more involved.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, a map is worth a thousand more. Help your readers understand and envision location in magazine and academic articles, reference books and fiction.
Maps and guides are a great way to help tourists find your events and attractions and they create excellent advertising opportunities for local businesses.
Custom maps help your businesses stand out from your competitors. Use one to highlight your location along with nearby attractions of particular interest to your customers
In the consultation we'll talk about the scope of your map project and goals. By the end of the call we will give you a ballpark estimate on costs and delivery times.
STEP 2: Design Brief
The design brief puts your goals and objectives into writing. It describes the content, style requirements, schedule and costs more precisely.
STEP 3: Research
Here we gather the appropriate data sets and create the draft layout. Once approved, we edit the data set so that only relevant information is shown on your map.
STEP 4: Production
Your map is now constructed according to the requirements as outlined in the design brief. Revisions are made as needed, and final quality checks are completed.
STEP 5: Delivery
The final product iis delivered as a digital file according to your requirements. Hard copies in a range of sizes are optionally available.
What our clients say...
I've had the pleasure of working with Julie on two tourism-oriented mapping projects in the past year. Julie is a true professional... [I] have already recommended her services to several of my colleagues.
It was a pleasure to work with Julie from the start until the process was completed. She was able to incorporate our ideas and bring our vision to life. I would highly recommend working with Julie.
Karen Mitchell, RTO4
It was a pleasure working with Julie. She was very responsive to my requests ... and was also happy to collaborate on some complicated aspects of my cartographic needs. I would most certainly work with her again.
Aparna Kapadia, Author (article in academic journal)
I've worked with Julie on a number of visitor maps for DMOs and she always delivers a quality product for great value! Highly recommend
Julie was fantastic to work with, and her cartography work is beautiful. Our team required a large number of custom maps, on a short timeline, and Julie delivered them promptly with ample time for review periods.
Samantha Tremmel, Plan Manager, ClimateActionWR
The custom map process was simplified which made it easy to communicate updates. Thank you Julie for helping us create an amazing map our customers will enjoy while using our services
Many of the maps I create are for historical fiction books. I work with a lot of authors, some are first-time authors and some, like Amy Mantravadi, have written several books. Amy wrote a historical fiction series about her ancestor who lived in 12th-century England and she wanted a map showing locations in the story.
Beach Vibe Rentals & Sales wanted a poster map of Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Encinitas to show where customers could take their rented e-bikes and golf carts, with suggested points of interest. Read how we created those different layouts.
I worked with the City of Brantford on multiple mapping projects last year - putting the finishing touches on their outdoor wayfinding maps, designing new maps of river access points, and updating their visitor guide map of Downtown Brantford. Even when cities design maps in-house, they can often use a helping hand!
