While digital maps can be great for navigating, maps often need to show a larger area for context. In building your custom map we bridge the gap between data and design. Our custom maps include only the details you want on your map and give you the big picture. By communicating in clear and simple terms we make the process easy.
Maps for Municipalities
Custom maps help highlight the hard work that municipalities put into development and planning, and they encourage community members to get out, get active, and become more involved.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, a map is worth a thousand more. Help your readers understand and envision location in magazine and academic articles, reference books and fiction.
Maps and guides are a great way to help tourists find your events and attractions and they create excellent advertising opportunities for local businesses.
Custom maps help your businesses stand out from your competitors. Use one to highlight your location along with nearby attractions of particular interest to your customers
In the consultation we'll talk about the scope of your map project and goals. By the end of the call we will give you a ballpark estimate on costs and delivery times.
STEP 2: Design Brief
The design brief puts your goals and objectives into writing. It describes the content, style requirements, schedule and costs more precisely.
STEP 3: Research
Here we gather the appropriate data sets and create the draft layout. Once approved, we edit the data set so that only relevant information is shown on your map.
STEP 4: Production
Your map is now constructed according to the requirements as outlined in the design brief. Revisions are made as needed, and final quality checks are completed.
STEP 5: Delivery
The final product iis delivered as a digital file according to your requirements. Hard copies in a range of sizes are optionally available.
What our clients say...
My latest novel was badly in need of some maps... They needed to look professional but appear to have been [hand]-drawn... Julie's work produced precisely what I needed.
David Ebsworth, Author
Julie did an amazing job in fully explaining every step of the production process and took the time with me to fully understand the type of work we do and the end product we were trying to achieve.
Nelson Cadete, City of Brampton
[Julie] was super responsive to all my emails and requests. Most importantly, after only a brief discussion she understood immediately what I wanted and produced near perfect drafts on the first try.
Gregory Madonna, Author
Julie provided our team with professional, timely and high quality service. She met deadlines, made herself available for meetings, turned around requests quickly and was a pleasure to work with.
Benita van Miltenburg, City of Guelph
Julie made the process smooth and fluid. Communication was phenomenal. The importance of communication and punctuality are huge, and it speaks volumes about Julie's organization and enthusiasm.
Jacob Taylor-Mosquera, Author
[Julie] has great cartography skills, always delivers on time and provided valuable feedback throughout the map development process resulting in a clear, easy to use map that exceeded our expectations.
In the past year I've spent a lot of time expanding my shop and figuring out what's next. I'll add more city and lake maps, more downloadable park maps, and more product types. And, as always, I'm here for you when you want a custom map.
It's been a very good week so far. I've just submitted the final draft for a map of the Philippines for a professor and will soon start a new project for a map of an imaginary world for another client.
My new client liked the work plan I laid out; the professor couldn't believe how easy this was for her. I realized that I've developed a process over the years that is now second-nature to me, and one that my clients consistently appreciate. Here's a look back at how my brand and design process developed over the years.
Many businesses and non-profits use social media as primary marketing channels, but there's still a place for brochures. Whether you mail print brochures or have them as downloads on your website, compelling imagery is important to attract attention. Maps of your locations or service areas can help. And we have some brochure templates to get you started.
